In recent years, many patients have asked me about the dental laboratory we use and why we have chosen to use them. I would like to introduce you to NuCraft Dental Arts, the dental laboratory we have used exclusively since I opened my practice 12 years ago. There is a current trend to send crowns to be fabricated in China and other countries for a cheaper product. We refuse to do that, all of the laboratory services we provide are fabricated in the United States of America. This means that all of the materials used for dental restorations and removable prosthesis are approved by the ADA (American Dental Association) Council on Education and Measurements, as well as the FDA.
Recently there has been legislation in Georgia and nationally calling for dental providers to council their patients on dental restorations and dental devices and the origin of their fabrication. This legislation is currently pending in Georgia.

In this day and age, when so many people are making purchases primarily on price, this is an increasingly rare thing indeed. In fact, more dentists and labs have begun outsourcing their work to foreign countries, such as China, to decrease expenses. Unfortunately, the knowledge, skill, and judgment of working with a highly trained, local laboratory technician cannot be outsourced.
Over 50 million restorations are outsourced to China annually. While it is perfectly legal for dentist to utilize outsourced dental restorations, they are often placed without the knowledge or consent of the patient. Quality and safety are often compromised. “Patient awareness is key,” says Terry Fohey, owner and CEO of NuCraft Dental Arts. “What I would like patients to know is that they have a choice. It is up to them to be a proactive part of their dental team.”
All dental laboratories are not equal but you do have a choice when it comes to who will create your new smile. Dr. Loden recognizes that his patients pay a higher fee for quality restorations made by NuCraft. He also strongly believes it is the most affordable way to provide the best, long-lasting dental restorations. “We assure our patients that no toxic metals or materials will be placed in their mouth. Quality also means they outlast the cheaper, outsourced crowns almost 3 to 1. This is a big savings when looking at the long term expense of maintaining dental health.”
