Drs. Amy and Mike spent Monday, May 2nd and Tuesday, May 3rd in our nation’s capitol for the Washington Leadership Conference. The purpose of the conference is to allow dentists to educate our congressman about dental issues and advocate for our patients. It was a productive meeting and a worthwhile cause. We thank the members of our Georgia Congressional Delegation for taking the time to meet with us.
Drs. Amy and Mike spent the morning at the Capitol for the LAW Day program of the Georgia Dental Association. It is an opportunity to advocate on behalf of our patients. Thank you to Representative Shaw Blackmon for taking time to speak with us and catch up! Shaw supported us by wearing the GDA tie today.
We had a great time taking care of our friend, Tony Mullis. It is an honor for us to take care of our veterans who have taken such great care of us. Terry Fohey, our lab technician and owner of Nucraft Dental Arts, brought one of his technicians and a dentist from New Hampshire to spend the day with us. We also enjoyed teaching and sharing with others.
Wow! What a wonderful weekend we spent serving our community. The Georgia Mission of Mercy (GMOM) is a patient outreach program of the Georgia Dental Association. Eighty percent of the money to put on the event was donated by dentists across the state of Georgia. Approximately 2200 patients received donated dental care from over 100 dentists and 1200 volunteers. Services included patient education, medical and dental screenings, cleanings, extractions, restorative dentistry, and even tooth replacement options. Over $1 million in services were donated in 2 days. Dr. Loden and his team have continued to follow several patients in the office until their work is complete.
On March 1, 2015, Dr. Loden presented to the American Academy of Restorative Dentistry in Chicago. His discussion of innovations in guided implant surgery utilizing CT/planning software, as well as new guide technology developed in Switzerland, was one of the first presentations of this material in America. Dr. Loden joined a small group of American dentists that traveled to Zurich twice in the last four years to study, collaborate, and introduce this concept in America.
